Thought in Poetry

Veteran Ghosts

Echoes of the past
firing of guns,
bombs explode
planes roar overhead,
men scream, drowns out birdsong,
horrors of war faced every day,
sleep never comes, eyes blood shot,
leeches cling to mud splattered skin,
fighting has passed, memories remain,
forever the men struggle
their lives never the same.

The Phoenix

The phoenix has risen from the deep, dark,
battered soul to shine with light
a light so strong to blind out trouble.

Tears have flowed, a river of them,
to cleanse the body of sadness, loss,
wash away years of built memories.

Hearts do weep, but do not break, or bleed,
they are battered, bruised, hurt,
needs love to repair the damage.

Sunshine illustriously healed the heart,
darkness spirited from the deep depth,
life returns, sadness disappears.

Strength, health, lightness of spirit, hope, cheer,
rise with the coming of new days,
Phoenix has risen from the ashes.

Dark sorrow driven away with the sun,
laughter, hope, pleasure, love reign,
eyes sparkle love, not sorrow.

Mother Laid To Rest.

Clouds of peace rose from
the casket on the alter,
we stood as one
Jack and I walked forward
to place the rose petals with love,
a mother, great grandmother
had departed leaving this earth,
to travel to a land without pain,
took our place of honor
beside the casket on this
her final journey.
Jody helped escort us
to the waiting hearse,
she gladly walked
her grandmother to the land
of peace and tranquility,
where my mother now stands
beside my father for eternity.

Changes

Time has stood still for me,
now my time has come to grow
I'll move forward, one step at a time
to new expanding horizons, excitement,
be one with the universe, not separate,
flow with the waves of life, with time,
express my feelings, not bottle them
to become my own person
to live in harmony.

Atlantis

The cloud of energy hung over the valley
closed off the stars from the city below,
air hard to breathe, sleep restless, draining,
the energy clears with the rising of the sun,
male and female wizards stood apart,
men in the hills, women in the valley,
powerless men raped and plundered,
women locked behind guarded walls at night,
Atlantis was dying, crumbling, rumbling,
too much energy exposed, earth groaned, cracked,
the protagonists fought their final battle
as Atlantis sank beneath the ocean.
